Abstract

The concept of General Education is not only of a pedagogical nature, but has a political connotation, insofar as it refers to the scope and aims of education as an organized process and its social repercussion in the concrete stage of development of society. It is evident that this should find a reference in the fundamental documents of each nation in educational matters, first in its constitution and in the rest of the legislative apparatus. In the context of the Agenda 2030, we must also distinguish the understanding of education as a process and education as "institution" in the broad sense of the word, that is, a social structure with specific purposes and functions for the school, as the basic institution of the educational process.
