Abstract

The curriculum of Primary Education includes two subjects whose main objective is to contribute to citizenship education; These are the World in which we live (in the first cycle) and Civic Education (in the second cycle), which respond to the demands of a social project whose essence includes the guarantee of achieving social justice for all; the understanding of the meaning of the defense of the homeland; the care and respect for social and personal property, knowing the rights and duties of workers, the development of moral qualities; the respect and fulfillment of the laws and juridical norms that regulate the coexistence in our socialist society; as well as the understanding of national and local history. The purpose of this paper is to demonstrate how from the teaching-learning process of the subject Civic Education in fifth and sixth grade can contribute to the civic education of primary school children.
