Abstract

From the theory of personal speech, expounded by Ortiz and Chomsky's generative grammar theory, the definition of language, its development and the components that make it up are explained, allowing us to find points of convergence, for example, in the explanation of the phonological components, lexical and syntactic, as well as difference, the inclusion of the prosodic component from Ortiz's theory. Furthermore, from Ortiz's theory, the explanation of the personal speech category is detailed, this being one of the biggest differences between both theoretical proposals. The comparative analysis allows us to understand the role of linguistics in the explanation of language and the limitations it shows when it is necessary to approach this category from the individuality of each subject. Being necessary to study it from a social science, such as Psychology.
