How to prepare the teacher for the prevention of refractive defects in first grade students?

Abstract

The Ministry of Education in Cuba establishes the permanent improvement of the teaching staff for the sake of the quality of the educational process. A line of professional improvement of the teacher is the preparation for preventive work and visual health being a determining factor for the development of the teaching-learning process from early childhood, based on the consequences caused by uncorrected refractive errors for learning and future life of infants, the prevention of these in first grade schoolchildren is significant. The lack of knowledge in this regard detected in the first grade teachers of the "Francisco Vega Alemán" Elementary School in Matanzas, has motivated the investigation to design a system of activities that contributes to the preparation for the development of the preventive work of defects refractive with their students.
