Abstract

The article focuses on the characterization of higher education in Cuba through a historic analysis on the topic. Key research that served as theoretical reference was consulted to establish a periodization of the object of study. The main result of this article is the proposal of a time line, different from previous works, to be consulted in the Cuban universities. The resulting time line has three moments, with two periods each: First moment: 1620-1902; Second moment: 1902-1962; Third moment: 1962-today.
