The music therapy in reducing self-harm behaviors among secondary school students

This study addresses the growing challenge of self-harm behaviors among adolescents, a pressing issue for both mental health and educational fields. The main objective was to assess the effectiveness of music therapy in reducing self-harm behaviors among secondary school students at Colegio Ernesto Velit Ruiz, in Lima. The material and method, it is a narrative review of literature published between 2018 and 2024; Articles were selected from academic databases such as Scopus, PsycINFO, SciELO, and Google Scholar. Findings were interpreted in alignment with previous studies, showcasing consistency with evidence supporting music therapy's positive impact on mental health. In conclusion, this study suggests that music therapy could be a promising tool for early interventions in adolescents, paving the way for its integration into school mental health programs.
