Abstract

Reading comprehension contemplates a meticulous process of analysis and systematization, where the meaning of what is read is understood, relating it to the previous experiences that it has developed, that is, the ability to understand certain ideas expressed in writing and be able to use them in other scenarios. Therefore, it is essential to guarantee the discovery of new cognitive schemes and a correct academic development. Often, a number of students from different educational levels, contemplated in the formal education modality, presented certain deficiencies around reading comprehension, which affected their academic development in the short, medium and long term, which was seen reflected in school performance and the lack of motivation to participate in the various pedagogical activities. In the Educational Unit "San Francisco de Gualleturo", the lack of reading comprehension, denotes as one of the learning problems, of greater connotation and prevalence in the students of fifth year of Basic General Education, who often present different difficulties than condition their development in the social and academic sphere, which is reflected in the lack of ability to analyze, interpret and generalize. The objective of this article is: To propose a methodological strategy for the improvement of reading comprehension in the students of the Fifth Year of Basic General Education, of the San Francisco de Gualleturo Educational Unit.
