The world of the 21st century faces new ways of life and the acquisition of knowledge that are conditioned by the impetuous development of Information and Communication Technologies and the knowledge economy. Rapid technological evolution has established a social functioning system that demands educational changes. For this reason, the contemporary school, as a social institution, is obliged to promote new scenarios based on the interrelationships that can be established between ICT and Didactics. In this direction, the present work bursts in with the aim of theoretically discussing the place of ICT in the PEA. Different methods of the theoretical level were used that allowed to interpret, systematize and specify different approaches that allow reaching a level of generalization about the place of ICT in the PEA and inferring theoretical formulations that support the replacement of old traditional models and adopt others that objectively train the subjects demanded by the knowledge society. The main results of the theoretical discussion allow us to affirm that ICTs by themselves do not cause significant changes in education in general or in teaching-learning processes in particular. Today the path must be directed towards the search for more realistic attitudes that truly reposition ICT as curricular and not magical elements, to solve educational problems.
