Abstract

The history of Stomatology corresponds to the findings and evidence of works linked to the specialty in remote periods, which made of these empirical practices without scientific basis, the contributions of pedagogy through professionalization as a basis for improving performance in the specialists of Integral General Stomatology. This allowed updating and deepening in the contents of the early diagnosis of dentomaxillofacial anomalies.Since 2016, a postgraduate training program on the diagnosis of dentomaxillofacial anomalies in orthodontics has been designed and executedfor specialists in Integral General Stomatology. This training whose main objective was to promote professionalization consisted of 96 hours, of which 40 were teaching hours and 56 hours were devoted to independent study. It had a daily frequency over 15 days and its specific objectives were, first, to deepen in the knowledge related to the diagnosis of dentomaxillofacial anomalies in orthodontics for primary healthcare, second, to make the diagnosis in orthodontics using,with precision, the clinical, epidemiological and social method, and lastly, to use the diagnostic means available in orthodontics for its interpretation. The professionalization of the Specialists in Integral General Stomatology led to the self-acquisition of knowledge, as well as the development of skills and values for the improvement of professional performance in the early diagnosis of dentomaxillofacialanomalies. The application of the Iadov logic table allowed for a very satisfactory evaluation of the professionalization process, given by the updated and scientific contents of the proposed Pedagogical Strategy.
