THEMATIC MAPS AS A CARTOGRAPHIC TOOL FROM THE CURRICULUM CONCEPTION OF GEOGRAPHY

The educational transformation aimed at raising the quality of educational work and learning has been goals of systematic and progressive work at various times in Cuba. The curricular conception for the improvement of the school Geography that is proposed is composed of a curricular design as materialization of the curricular changes of Cuban education in correspondence with the scientific advances of this science linked to cartography and technologies.The new conception implies the need for an integral curricular perspective of Geography with the use of cartographic information sources for the development of habits and skills with cartographic materials with emphasis on thematic maps, based on a system of objectives and content contextualized in the new improvement materials.The proposal is of great value as it forms part of the ongoing project of the improvement of the National Education System in close relation with the 2030 objectives and goals and the EduMap project developed by the GEOCUBA research center.
