The fundamental role of anatomical, physiological, and school hygiene knowledge in academic planning

Abstract

This reflective article aims to analyze the relevance of knowledge in anatomy, physiology, and school hygiene in academic planning, specifically in the design of teaching schedules. Based on a review and critical analysis of classical and contemporary specialized sources, the authors argue that the organization of school time should not respond solely to logistical or administrative criteria, but also to the biological, psychological, and collective health needs of students. The contributions of physiology to the understanding of circadian rhythms and their impact on cognitive performance are highlighted, supported by studies on chronotypes and fatigue. Likewise, the role of school hygiene in creating healthy and equitable environments is analyzed, considering everything from classroom ventilation to active breaks as a physiological necessity. Recent research shows that the time of day when assessments are conducted directly influences grades, and that active breaks improve attention, memory, and reduce academic stress. The authors propose a holistic approach that considers individual differences related to age, gender, and health conditions. It is concluded that academic planning based on anatomical, physiological, and hygienic principles represents a commitment to educational quality and sustainable social development.
