Abstract

This study proposes a methodological alternative to enhance the preparation of mathematics teachers in Basic General Education through the use of GeoGebra software, with the aim of developing students’ mathematical skills. Using a mixed-methods approach and a quasi experimental design, the digital competencies of teachers were assessed, followed by the implementation of a training intervention at the “Pablo Mettler” Educational Unit. The results reveal significant improvements in students’ academic performance, motivation toward the subject, and teachers’ ability to design innovative activities. It is concluded that the integration of GeoGebra into teaching practice energizes the teaching-learning process, promotes meaningful learning, and improves essential mathematical skills.
