The objectives as an essential component of the learning-teaching process of the English language in Medical Sciences

Abstract

The learning-teaching process, from the epistemological view point, is a process of interaction between two essential elements: the professor and the students, as well as among the students. Both of them constitute the object of study within the learning-teaching process of the English language in Medical Sciences.

 In this process, the professor conveys information and the students build up their knowledge and develop skills, convictions and values in order to reach a general integrated formation in the future generations. The present written work deals with the learning-teaching process of the English language in Medical Sciences, specifically the objectives, one of the components of this process. In this work, the authors point out the importance of knowing how necessary the objectives are in the previously mentioned process, its definition, characteristics, requisites, classification, its didactic functioning, types of objectives from different points of view, such as the levels of assimilation and the infinitives which are required in the formulation of objectives. The objectives of this work are: to define the category objective as one of the most important component in the process, its classification, characteristics and requisites to elaborate them. The authors of this work provide suggestions to help other professors to elaborate objectives properly in their teaching activity.
