ABSTRACT

The emergence of the specialty of Integral General Stomatology in the year 1993 in Cuba aimed to develop skills in the early detection in the community of etiological agents of diseases and health problems capable of damaging the bio-psychosocial balance of individuals in their natural environment. The evaluation of the professional performance of the specialists in Integral General Stomatology allowed to detect the main difficulties in the areas of diagnosis, treatment and education in health, with respect to dentomaxillofacial anomalies in orthodontics.  The main performance problems were diagnosed in a population of 40 specialists who worked in the Teaching Clinic H and 21 of Plaza de la Revolución.  A sample of 30 specialists was selected for 75% applying the technology of the Advanced Education theory. The evaluation of the performance test applied before and after the Pedagogical Strategy allowed first, to detect the problems and potentialities during the professional performance of the specialists and in the end, there were qualitative changes in the observation of professional performance in the different areas analyzed.
