This article deals with the theoretical elements of communication, essential for the design of courses in a Virtual Learning Environments "AVA", emphasizing the aspects to be considered in the organization of the teaching-learning process and in the design of the activities of synchronous or asynchronous learning as a means to achieve the development expected of the individual. A theoretical approach to the mediation of the teacher is carried out as a way to direct the learning process of the students, considering this as a set of group and individual activities mediated by him, where the knowledge and use of the psychological and pedagogical aspects guarantee the success of the proposed goals.
