Abstract

This article intends to show the scientific community the experience of the researchers in the preparation and socialization of two Cuban books with pictograms, for children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). Based on experience in educational practice, there was little bibliography contextualized to the Cuban reality for families and teachers to use to stimulate children with this condition. Children with autism lack materials that allow them to develop vocabulary, imagination and exchange. For its creation, design and evaluation, the scientific method of participatory action research was used. Group interview and survey were applied. The most relevant result is the use of the materials by families and teachers both in the family, school context and with other specialists. The structure and design of the materials also allowed greater development of children's reading comprehension and learning through texts with pictograms and interactive activities. Their value is not limited only to this group of children, but they have been widely used with other children and at different ages. It constitutes a contribution to the National Education System, while it promotes the use of materials with pictograms that promote learning.
